Sri Lanka has introduced an important update for short-term international visitors. Effective from 25 May 2026, nationals of 40 selected countries are eligible to obtain a Sri Lanka Tourist ETA free of charge for a stay of up to 30 days. Additional arrangements also apply to nationals of the Maldives, Seychelles, and Singapore.
This update is relevant for travelers planning short-term visits to Sri Lanka for tourism, leisure, or holiday purposes. While the ETA fee is waived for eligible nationalities, travelers need to complete the ETA process before their trip. For international travelers, this means the process may become more cost-effective, but the need for accurate application details remains essential.
